Fensterbau is the largest trade fair in the world that takes place every two years in Nurnburg, Germany and features all things associated with the PVC window and door trade
Some 780 exhibitors covering an area around 94,000 square metres and over 100,000 visitors made for a packed show. Although the main focus would be the German market, all other markets were also featured to some extent.
Profine featured heavily at the fair with some 7 stands in total covering all their brands from KBE, Kommerling and Trocal.
The show theme was based around low energy windows and doors.
Profine features included – new paint finishes, profile coatings, low energy windows and doors, large patio doors.
Other show hi-lights included –
- Keyless door entry featured heavily at the show. You have keyless entry into your car these days, why not your house?
- All the big hardware companies from Winkhaus to Siegenia showing all their wares.
- Air exchange systems seem to be growing in popularity. When todays windows and doors are so air tight, then mechanical air exchange becomes more apparent.
- Hardware to cope with bigger windows and doors. The first one to get to 2700 high close the door after them?
All the major European competition was well represented, but it gives us great confidence to know that we are part of the Profine group who are leading the competition and keeping up with all the latest trends.
There were two halls devoted to all things machinery with all the major companies from Elumatec and Urban with automation featured heavily as always. There were loads of other small machinery stands that had some great ideas that could be very useful.
It is becoming more and more apparent that profile insulation inserts are the way forward for lower U values on windows and doors. Three or more U value variants would appear to be the norm for window and door manufacturers.
It is always interesting to see what ideas our European neighbours come up with so roll on 2014.
